D.I.Y Coffee table
When we were thrifting a couple of weeks ago, we didn't really have in mind what we were hoping to find. We made a quick stop was because we had sometime in-between appointments that Wednesday morning.
While scrolling down the furniture section, Frank spotted this coffee table that was hiding in a corner among a pile of other furniture. We snatched it up immediately, it was in really good condition and I am a sucker for curves on furnitures.
For $14.99 and a run to Home Depot for some sandpaper, wood stain and a stain brush, we managed to change the look of the table from boring brown to slick jet black.
Here are what we used:
Before Frank even started preparing the table to be sand, he cleaned the table thoroughly and carefully inspected the piece, making sure nothing needs to be fixed or removed (like stickers, sticky glue, etc). Next, sanding the furniture. He had to be diligent about it, making sure to remove the old varnish off the table. Lastly, staining the table. This step took about 2 days to finish as he had to let the stain dry before applying the next coat.
So with a little bit of imagination and elbow grease, you can easily transform the look of a furniture.
So start thrifting, DIYing and styling your home, friends!
